While working in a Manhattan antique store one afternoon in 2001, I made a number of blind contour drawings of several items on display. There was an owl, carved out of wood, that served as the base of a table lamp. My original pencil drawings were made on brown, recycled paper and I later inked them in while peeking. I combined the scanned image with a photographic detail of Richard Serra’s installation at Dia Beacon in 2021.
