When I made the comics collected in SKETCHES AND STREAMS, each panel, or each element of each panel was produced and scanned into electronic form separately. This method made it possible to build, layer, and edit panel and page compositions in the computer. The original art, as well as some unpublished art, was later reworked into handmade collages. In contrast to the careful process used for my comic book pages, the creation of these new compositions was fluid and spontaneous. Revisiting the material also allowed me to experiment with color.
