I established a very specific approach to the illustration inside my book Utopian Musings. Once the interior pages were finished, I started working on the cover. I wanted the cover to entice readers and hint to what was inside, but I didn’t want it to overshadow what is inside the book, or visually link to any particular moment in the story.
I tried different things, to see what worked and what didn’t and got great feedback from friends to keep the process moving forward. Here are some of the design experiments that were ultimately scrapped.
